St. Patty's Day and Under the Weather

At the beginning of the week, Brayden just wasn't himself. I knew something was wrong when he didn't want to eat. This little boy never turns down a meal! We headed to see the doctor, and Brayden had the flu. We did a lot of cuddling, sherbert eating and relaxing around the house. Although we took it easy and didn't do much during the week, we just couldn't miss my mom's St. Patty's Day meal which included corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, Irish soda bread, rye bread and clover shaped cookies. MMMM! It was delicious!

Brayden is going to be a...

BIG BROTHER!!!!
We are so very excited! Our new addition is due around October 4th! We love our October babies! We saw a beautiful, tiny baby and heard a strong heartbeat during our first ultrasound. We told our family several weeks ago with a "Big Brother" shirt on Brayden. It was so much fun to see how long it took them to read the shirt and figure it out! We are so happy, and we continue to pray for a healthy baby.

Heavy Heart

My heart has been very heavy for a family losing their two year old daughter to cancer. Layla Grace is a beautiful little girl, and she has been fighting this disease for several months now. As a mom, I can't even begin to fathom preparing to lose your child. I have learned how quickly time really goes, and I am reminded not to ever take life for granted. At church, we have been going through a sermon series on miracles. I continue to pray, "God, please bring a miracle to this family and heal this precious baby." But many times, God has another plan. Just reading this family's thoughts, fears and emotions on their blog has taught me so much and made me stop to thank God for my life which He has abundantly blessed me with. Too many times, I get wrapped up in planning and making sure that things are just perfect. We just never know when life is going to change directions or when when have to say goodbye to someone we think will be in our lives forever. I think about friends and family who have lost children, about loss and love and miracles and hope. It is amazing to me that this little girl whom many people reading about her/praying for her have never met has brought many people closer to God and taught them to slow down and hug those that we love a little tighter. Please pray for this family and for comfort for Layla Grace.

A Boy and His Balloon

Brayden LOVES his HEB balloons. When we pull into the HEB parking lot, he begins saying 'boon' (balloon) over and over again. Last week, the greeter gave Brayden two balloons because he kept saying 'boon peas', and he told me that he remembers that since we come once a week Brayden should get two. Brayden wasn't going to argue about that. When we were in the parking lot though, one of the balloons flew away. He was really calm about it, and seemed to understand when I told him that it was all gone. He just shrugged his shoulders and held onto the other one even tighter. When we got home, he ran over to 'Uster' and 'Lele' to show them his fabulous balloon. It was so cute because he really was so proud! Unfortunately, the balloon flew to the top of the living room, and it was so sad (yet really funny) to see him pointing, running over to me, and repeating 'boon'. Our hero, Daddy, saved the day when he got home and got it down. Who would have thought a balloon would be so exhilirating!

We eat lunch with the balloon.

We play with the balloon without pants on...
